Michael Lewin Solicitors Limited Martin Curtis wins £450

A young woman has been told she must carry out community service and pay compensation after punching local fireman Martin Curtis in the face during an argument.

Katherine, 43, from Brentwood in Essex, pleased guilty to the assault but claimed she did not cause all the injuries suffered by the victim and that she was provoked.

The argument started when Martin went outside her house at 11:30pm on 5th August to ask noisy customers from the Crown Inn pub, located on the same street, to be quiet.

The pair apparently got into an altercation during which Mr Curtis was pushed, falling over a car parked next to them on to the floor where he hit his head quite badly.

As he stumbled up Katherine then punched him.

Her defence counsel claimed that there had been several mitigating factors not least that she had attended her sister’s funeral only hours before.

Katherine was sentenced to pay £450 compensation to her victim, £185 in court costs, complete a 12-month supervision order in addition to undertaking 120 hours of unpaid work.
