Keen motorbike enthusiast Nigel Carver collects £34,700
Nigel, 34 from Harrogate North Yorkshire, was traveling to work in Leeds along the A61 when a car in front suddenly decided to do an immediate u turn in front of him.
No indicator, no prior braking, just an immediate and totally illegal move across a very busy road at rush hour in the morning.
Whilst he did attempt an emergency stop it was too little too late and the inevitable crash happened, with Nigel catapulting over the top of the bonnet on to the ground before them.
Police and emergency services were soon on the scene with an ambulance immediately dispatched to St.James’s Hospital where Nigel was very quickly seen to.
A broken leg and fractured arm in two places meant Nigel’s love of the open road and his ability to work were finished for three months, and he still has to visit a chiropractor occasionally for a back that has never been the same since.
The guilty driver argued that Nigel had been driving far too quickly and that “nobody would have seen him,” but little did he know Michael Lewin were on the case.
